Kia Ora! Tautoro is a small country school located 10 minutes out of Kaikohe. We are a collaborative classroom made up of 32 year 6, 7 & 8 tamariki. We speak both Māori and English and love sharing our learning with each other, whanau, our community, and the wider world. Our focus this year is to build student agency so our tamariki are the sole drivers of their learning. Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa, Na Whaea Gaylene & Whaea Virginia.

Tautoro turns 110 years ago.
This month marks the change of seasons, from the changing of the autumn leaves of it's brilliant earthy tones to now a very cold winter. It is also the celebration of Matariki which disappears below the horizon in April and whose reappearance in the north eastern pre-dawn sky in late May or early June marks the start of a new phase.
Here in Tautoro, we will be celebrating 110 years since the school first opened in 1906. Along with learning the history of the school, when it was first established, education has played a major role to this community and to those families who still continue to enrol their children here.
Check out what some children have learned.
